The document link in a distributor's current product page is a useful place to begin a storage migration review. Follow it to the actual file. A new application may already upload PDFs successfully while that existing link still depends on the previous environment. The two results concern different objects.
AWS's October 14 announcement of S3 integration with Vercel Marketplace and v0 makes the distinction concrete. Developers can create and connect storage from the site-building workflow. However, when linking an existing AWS account, the integration works with new buckets created through Vercel. Linking the account does not automatically bring its existing buckets and their product files into the integration.
For international teams moving a Chinese manufacturer's catalogue, the migration plan must therefore describe more than the new resource. It needs to preserve the relationship between a file, the product it supports and the pages through which buyers reach it.
Keep file identity through the move
A page address, a download address and a storage object can belong to different systems. Copying the page's text into a new website may preserve a reference to the old file rather than transfer the file itself. That arrangement can be intentional during a phased move, but it should not remain an unnoticed dependency until the old environment is stopped.
Names alone may not identify the material. Several models can each have a manual.pdf, distinguished by a directory or object key. Flattening those paths during a move can overwrite a different document or make a page retrieve the wrong version. Preserve enough identity to map each source object to its destination before deciding which addresses remain stable and which page references need to change.
The catalogue may also contain different access classes. Public product images, downloadable specifications and restricted technical material should not acquire the same access merely because they share a new storage resource. Making an entire bucket public to fix one broken download changes more than the migration requires. Preserve the intended reading conditions and check them against the actual destination behaviour.
For an overseas distributor, this is partly a content check. Opening a PDF is insufficient if it describes a different configuration. The manufacturer should be able to associate the destination object with the applicable product and revision. Otherwise a technically successful transfer can quietly change the evidence attached to a sales page.
Test through the page a buyer uses
A compact migration record can list the old object, the new object and the pages that reference it. Test a file from its actual product-page entry, not just from the storage console. Confirm the applicable version, content integrity and intended access path. A developer's authenticated preview may not represent the path available to an external visitor or a restricted partner.
It can be reasonable to leave an existing library in place while the new site adds fresh material elsewhere. That reduces the scope of a first move when current links are stable. The trade-off is continuing responsibility for the old environment. Record what it still serves, who maintains it and which dependencies must be retired before it can be stopped. Do not call the whole library migrated when only new uploads have moved.
The AWS integration announcement covers object storage, table storage and vector storage, but those resources do not perform interchangeable jobs. Selecting a vector resource does not make the existing PDFs into a complete knowledge assistant. AWS specifically notes that S3 Vectors does not generate embeddings. The source documents, derived chunks, vectors and page references still need their respective processing and associations.
If the move also changes the knowledge system's model, checking the configuration behind the existing embedding index is separate work. A transferred file, a queryable index and an answer about the current product establish different properties. A single connected label in the site builder cannot establish all of them.
For the handoff, identify who can confirm each part: the storage mapping, the document's product applicability and the buyer's entry page. An upload result cannot answer all three.
Close a migration segment by choosing a real, currently used product page and following its document route. Can the intended reader obtain the correct version under the intended access conditions, without an unexplained dependency on a retiring environment? Once that path is accounted for, the team has a concrete basis for deciding what to move next. A newly created bucket, by itself, provides no such answer.
