An overseas buyer who clicks “Request a quote” has chosen a different task from someone who clicks “Explore products.” The first expects a way to describe a requirement and receive a response. The second may be happy to browse. Treating the two phrases as interchangeable copy variants makes it difficult to explain what a higher click rate actually means.

TikTok's Smart+ setup guidance, updated in October 2026, describes AI-generated CTA text for eligible Web Traffic campaigns. Available options can be applied during delivery; access is not universal. This gives B2B marketers another reason to review the meaning of the actions appearing in their ads, rather than regard short button text as a harmless decoration beneath the main message.

Read the button as the buyer's chosen task

Begin with the verb. Download means there is an identifiable item to obtain. Contact means there is a usable way to reach the business. Request a quote means the destination can collect enough information to start that process. None requires an immediate sale, but each makes a distinct promise about what becomes possible after the click.

For a Chinese supplier selling configurable products internationally, quotation wording needs particular care. A price lookup for a standard item, a request for a custom specification and a formal commercial quotation are different services. “Get an instant quote” may imply that price calculation and the relevant conditions are available immediately. “Request a quote” can accurately describe a process that requires a later sales response. The wording should follow the actual service, not whichever phrase sounds more decisive.

This is also a brief for the landing page. If material, dimensions and order quantity are needed to investigate a price, the page should help the visitor provide those facts. Explain unfamiliar fields where they are requested. Do not require a large company questionnaire merely because the CRM has room for it. Ask the sales team which missing inputs prevent a useful first response, then separate those from information that can be collected later.

The appropriate form will vary by product. A standard replacement part may need an identifier, whereas a configurable assembly may require a drawing or clarification. A universally short form can be as unhelpful as a universally long one if it fails to capture the information needed to begin. The CTA should not conceal that difference by promising the same immediate result for both.

Language belongs in this test. A localized button leading to an untranslated form can leave an action technically present but practically difficult. Review the creative language and destination together, including error messages and the explanation of what happens after submission. The buyer should not have to infer the supplier's response process from an unrelated language or a generic thank-you message.

Compare outcomes without confusing the promises

A stronger CTA can change who clicks and what they expect. If the page then fails to provide the advertised action, additional clicks do not establish better demand. Examine whether visitors find the relevant step, begin it and finish it, followed by whether sales receives an intelligible requirement. This is a way to diagnose the journey, not a claim that any one phrase will improve commercial results.

Keep the comparison interpretable. If one variant says “Download specifications” and another says “Request pricing,” they invite different tasks. A difference in submissions cannot be attributed only to the quality of the wording. You have changed the requested commitment as well. Decide whether the test is about phrasing the same action more clearly or choosing which action the page should support; those are separate decisions.

Conversely, a quiet reporting period is not sufficient evidence that the CTA failed. Check that the destination worked, the relevant language was readable and the observed events covered the path in question. A button cannot repair an unavailable form or make an unsuitable product relevant. Avoid rewriting the promise to compensate for an operational problem elsewhere.

Where generated options are enabled, review what actually appears, using the controls available to the account. If those controls cannot keep the action description accurate for a complex offer, narrow where automatic text is used. A plain invitation to explore the product can be more appropriate than an unsupported invitation to obtain a final price immediately.

Before enabling a quotation CTA, send the destination to the person who will answer those requests. Ask them to submit a representative specification and identify what arrives, what is missing and what response the page promises. If that handoff is not ready, keep the invitation at product exploration until it is.
